The Windsor Construction Association (“WCA”) is an ICI (industrial, Commercial, Institutional) and non-ICI association supporting contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, Consulting firms, training and personnel providers.
The Association promotes members’ interests and provides specialized services to help all members succeed in today’s ever-changing construction industry.
The WCA is seeking a hands-on leader to continue the WCA legacy, to manage and develop its strategic plan, to build membership, to engage in negotiations and to provide assistance to contractors in Southwestern Ontario.
Responsibilities
Office
- To be knowledgeable and to supervise all the office procedures and staff responsibilities
- Recruit, train, manage and lead office staff and volunteers
- Oversee the staff and volunteers at social activities set by the board
- Be the main point of contact to the media for WCA related issues
- Attend committee meetings at the request of the President
- Provide support to related sectoral partners including:
- Heavy Construction Association of Windsor (HCA)
- Windsor Construction Labour Relations Groug (WCLRG)
- Heavy Construction Labour Relations Committee of Windsor (HCLRCW)
- Windsor Wall & Ceiling Contractors Association (WW&CCA)
Financial
- Ensure the financial well-being of the WCA and its various programs and advocacy initiatives
- Manage all financial issues in conjunction with the Treasurer and WCA Accountant, in accordance with established investment policy
- Establish a yearly budget and present it to the Board of Directors (BOD)
- Source alternate funding opportunities for the WCA
- Grow WCA and Electronic Plansroom (EPR) membership
Labour Relations
- Perform all labour relations activities including grievance resolution; representation at arbitration; conduct and lead local bargaining for local and provincial agreements; attend provincial bargaining meetings
- Attend provincial and local meetings
- Maintain strong working relations with local and provincial building trade representatives
- Represent WCA on provincial boards and committees as needed
- Advocate for members with all levels of government, owners, consultants and unions
- Promote WCA and its members to owners, consultants and government
- Other related duties
Education
- Construction related degree or diploma is an asset
- Labour Relations Certificate or Training is an asset
- Occupational Health and Safety Education or Training is an asset
Requirements
- Post secondary education in business, public administration, construction management, engineering or a related field (sector experience is considered an asset)
- 7 to 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, ideally with in construction, infrastructure, trades or association environment
- Demonstrated experience working with Boards of Directors and a general knowledge of governance practices
- Experience in advocacy, stakeholder engagement or public policy is a strong asset
- Strong financial acumen and comfort overseeing budgets and reporting
- Excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills
- Professional association management credentials (e.g. CAE) are considered an asset but not required
- Candidate start date will be expected in early September 2026
Compensation
- Compensation will be in the range of $150,000 to $195,000 with the possibility of a bonus
- Comprehensive Group Health Benefits are offered
- Reimbursement for association travel, training and memberships
